Job Description

Overview

The Director of Clinical Operations will provide leadership to the multi-disciplinary care center with an emphasis on quality management and enhanced customer service. This Director is responsible for providing oversight in all facets of patient care and is accountable for the initiation and completion of business and unit plans that ensure quality while utilizing available resources efficiently. They will ensure alignment between the care center vision with the organization’s mission, vision and values (purpose, excellence, compassion, and team). They will execute plans, with and through others, integrating the efforts of various components/entities of the system. The Director may be responsible for 24-hour accountability. 

Other opportunities include:

  • Championing the strategic development of emergency department services for the region
  • Building strategic partnerships with urgent care centers in the region
  • Creating innovative solutions to improve flow and efficiency within the department
  • Ensuring fiscal responsibility and clinical and operational performance improvement initiatives
  • Overseeing cross functional areas within IU Health Arnett Hospital and collaborating throughout the region to align processes and drive process improvement
  • Leading harm events and safety for the hospital in partnership with the quality and safety team

Qualifications/knowledge/skills/abilities:

  • Masters of Nursing or related field is required or actively enrolled.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires completion Clinical Specialty Professional Certification within 1 year upon meeting eligibility requirements.
  • Requires 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Magnet experience is desired.
  • Prior experience managing mid-level trauma in a Level I, II, or III environment strongly preferred.
  • Sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) or similar experience preferred.

Key Relationships

Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer – West Central region 

Direct reports: 1 manager level and 3 individual contributors 

Other Key Relationships: Associate Chief Nursing Officer of Operations, Medical Director and Medical Officers for Emergency Medicine, Director for Inpatient Services, Director for Perioperative Services, physician groups, nursing directors, finance and supply chain leadership
