IU Health North Hospital is a full-service 189 bed hospital for adults and children that continues to provide leading family-centered care to Carmel and Hamilton County residents since 2005. All patient rooms are private to optimize comfort for each individual and their family, and our wealth of services for adults and children ranges from cardiovascular, surgical and orthopedic care to maternity, neonatal, pediatric care, along with an attached medical office building. The IU Health Joe & Shelly Schwarz Cancer Center brings cancer services together under one roof including radiation oncology and hematology-oncology to surround patients and their loved ones with the care and support they need. We are proud to also offer the peace of mind that comes with the service and support of Riley Hospital for Children’s nationally-recognized programs, including a Level III NICU and a pediatric ICU.

Coordinates a service line of care for a similar patient population of high acuity patients of all ages within their department. Responsibilities include extensive assessment and clinical judgment of physiological health care, monitoring the status and providing an appropriate plan of care in collaboration with the health care team. Serves as the clinical expert to assigned staff and is a strong unit leader and performs unit and system leadership activities as necessary to support the specific service line. Applies advanced clinical knowledge of the specialty and is required to scrub and/or circulate. Responsible for developing a core curriculum, in conjunction with the clinical educator and system education, for the service line and oversees orientation of new staff and on-going staff education and evaluation of these programs within the service line. Acts as a role model, resource person, and member of the management team as well as keeping the organization Inc. Mission and Vision at the forefront of all patient care and system activities.

Shift: full-time, day(M-F 6:30-13:00)

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Masters of Nursing preferred.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires prior OR circulating experience in thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

We are committed to providing a comprehensive, personalized support system to new graduate nurses to help you transition to the role of professional nurse.

Once hired to a department, alongside nursing orientation, all new graduate nurses in their first nursing role will have the opportunity to participate in a Nurse Residency Program called "Transition to IU Health Nursing Practice." The Nurse Residency program goals are to provide socialization and support, enhance clinical judgment, and promote professional development.
