CDM Quality Expert

Job Description

Overview

This position is on the Chargemaster (CDM) Team. The CDM Quality Expert performs CDM reviews; ensures charging compliance by understanding each department’s charging practices based on the CDM; ensures that CDM additions, inactivations, and revisions are provided to IT for implementation into the hospital’s clinical and financial systems; and monitors CDM reports to maintain CDM integrity.

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Experience working with supplies, supply chain, radiology, cath lab preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of the practices, procedures, and concepts of the healthcare revenue cycle, specifically revenue integrity and its component operations, including billing, coding, charge capture, third-party reimbursements and/or compliance
  • Experience in managing and/or developing charge description master or charge capture processes, policies, and/or procedures
  • Knowledgeable in the use and application of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), and revenue codes
  • Detail-oriented, with proven ability to effectively manage time, see tasks and projects through to completion, organize competing priorities and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively on complex projects in a team environment with staff from a wide variety of business and clinical areas
  • Proven ability to work with managers, serving as a technical resource, and providing recommendations and advice on complex regulatory changes and industry trends and developments in revenue cycle management

Requirements:

  • Requires High School Diploma.
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in related field preferred. Requires proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Visio & Access). Requires 3+ years experience in revenue cycle operations in various positions related to the position.
  • Requires a high level of interpersonal, problem solving, and analytic skills.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills in both individual and group settings to ensure professional correspondence and presentation to all levels of individuals within the organization (operational team members, leadership, internal and external to Revenue Cycle, and other external individuals/groups).
  • Requires the ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with others.
  • Requires ability to set and adjust defined priorities as necessary and to process multiple tasks at once.
  • Requires strong attention to detail, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Requires ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
