Job Description

Overview

The Director – Quality and Safety for System Health Solutions (SHS) will provide strategic, operational and thought leadership to support Indiana University Health System. The System Health Solutions (SHS) business unit, a division within Indiana University Heath, was formed in 2015 and is charged with making high quality care more accessible and affordable, creating a more seamless customer experience, and developing new care models and capabilities that improve health of our patients and communities.  SHS business unit is made up of over 2,500 team members and delivered $1.2B in net revenue in 2020.  SHS encompasses a wide range of service lines located across the state of Indiana, for example, Urgent Care, Virtual Care, Home, Health and Hospice.  The leader will have responsibility for quality and safety across the service lines.

This leader will be responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement (QAPI) and Infection Prevention (IP) Program(s), in collaboration with SHS senior leadership team, CMO’s, medical directors and other leaders throughout SHS and IUH.  They will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure measurable improvement in health outcomes, prevention of medical errors and reduction of patient harm.

Other opportunities include:

  • Directing, facilitating, and influencing the alignment of clinical quality, patient safety, and infection prevention improvement efforts by promoting adoption of local and national benchmarking for best practices
  • Ensuring active representation and engagement in IU Health System quality, patient safety and infection prevention initiatives

Qualifications/knowledge/skills/abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Masters preferred.
  • Physician, Pharmacist or Registered Nurse preferred.
  • 7+ years of quality experience required.
  • Experience in a healthcare system required.
  • Experience building trusting relationships, influencing through indirect authority, and inspiring and aligning diverse stakeholders to achieve a common vision all within a complex, matrix organization is required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Rapid Cycle PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma or IHI Model for Improvement experience is preferred.
