Be a part of an outstanding team of medical professionals at our IU Health location in Muncie, IN. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Post Doctorate- Behavioral Health Fellowship candidate.

The Behavioral Health Post-doctoral Fellow functions as a team member at the Ball Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency Center. The Fellow provides primary behavioral health care including consultation, diagnostic assessment and counseling services. The Fellow supports the Behavioral Science Program Director in implementation of coordinated care services to promote the Patient Centered Medical Home model of the Residency Center. The Fellow functions as an assistant to the Behavioral Science Program Director in development of behavioral health education for residents and medical students. The Fellow will assist in residency retreats and recruiting and will serve as a liaison in interdepartmental collaboration (e.g. Weight Management -Bariatric Center).

  • Must have the ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills to function in a consultative/educational and research role.
  • Must have the ability to exhibit scholarly writing skill including the use of appropriate word usage and vocabulary, and proper grammar and spelling.
  • Must have the ability to operate a personal computer using various applications; spreadsheet and/or database software.
  • Must have the ability to learn departmental functions and specialized terminology applicable to the departments.
  • Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  • Must have the ability to evaluate problem situations and come to appropriate conclusions.
  • Must have the ability to communicate optimally with patients, families/significant others, physicians, co-workers, supervisors, and other clinic personnel on a one-on-one basis using appropriate word usage and vocabulary, and accurate grammar.
  • Must have the ability to handle discretionary and confidential information.
  • Must have the ability to gain a knowledge and understanding of the organization and department policies and procedures.
  • Must have the ability to exhibit excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to exercise tact and discretion.
  • Must have the ability to remain flexible in order to handle and prioritize work from various department staff.
  • This position is a 2000-hour training position and meets the licensure training standards for a psychologist in Indiana. Requires a degree from an applied doctoral psychology program ? Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Psychology in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
