Job Description

Overview

The Prenatal Instructor functions autonomously with and in collaboration with other healthcare team members to instruct health education classes. Requires a basic understanding of the behaviors, developmental stages, physical and emotional needs, life cycle changes, comfort and care appropriate to the age of the patient / client served. Age groups served include: pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

 Must have at least one of the following: Current IN licensed RN, LPN or Bachelor?

's degree in Health, Education, or related field or certification in desired area or teaching experience. AND Must have completed the appropriate course or courses necessary to effectively teach classes assigned. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Requires to demonstrate respect for all class participants and various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and practices. Must have the ability to use independent judgment and discretion. Must have the ability to creatively demonstrate various techniques and articulate various curricula so that it is communicated in a manner to promote and enhance the learning experience. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with healthcare consumers / patients / peers appropriate grammar and word usage. Must have the ability and capability of demonstrating exercises or skills needed by class participants. Must have the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Must have the ability to frequently work in a standing position and do frequent walking.
