Job Description

Overview

The Regional Chief Physician Executive will lead and manage the affairs of the practice group for the South Central Region, maintaining the deployment and effective utilization of physical, financial, and managerial resources to uphold the mission and values of the organization. The incumbent serves as a leader and as a liaison with the employed medical staff in the South Central Region. This role oversees the application and implementation of established policies and ensures overall compliance with regulatory requirements. The role is responsible for setting and leading overall medical group culture consistent with IU Health values, managing the behavior and performance of the regional provider teams, and leading key provider group initiatives in areas of patient access, population health, value-based care models, and ambulatory quality and safety. The incumbent is responsible for workforce planning in partnership with the regional executive team and is accountable for performance on ambulatory dashboard measures. The incumbent will report to the South Central Regional President as a member of the South Central Regional Executive Team. The position requires a strong and effective relationship with the Regional Chief Medical Officer. 

  • Requires a Medical Degree (MD or DO) and is a physician in good standing. Must be eligible to practice in the state of Indiana.
  • Requires 10 years of experience as a practicing physician. 
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Requires interpersonal negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to lead groups and programs.
  • Requires knowledge of state and national healthcare policy and practice standards.
  • Requires knowledge of state and federal laws relative to assigned area.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Requires knowledge and experience in finance, operations management, strategic planning and community relations.
  • Requires a collaborative leader who works with leaders of IUH, IUSM, and other key stakeholders and business units.
  • Must be a visionary with the ability to think in a positive and creative manner.
  • Requires well developed administrative and management skills.
  • Requires the ability to lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Requires the ability to work in a heavily matrixed reporting environment.
