Job Description

Overview

Summary

This position exists to support the Treasury Department leaders in the overall operation of the Treasury Department to ensure cash flows efficiently through the enterprise to resource IU Health’s mission. Performs activities relating to Cash Management Operations, Investment and Debt Programs, Merchant Processing, and Deposit Operations as directed by the Program Director or other Treasury leaders. Performs analysis and provides information in developing recommendations on a variety of treasury activities including, but not limited to, cash management, banking relationships, investment activity, debt, merchant processing, and deposit operations. Assists in implementing funding and investment strategies for corporate assets and other special projects. May receive guidance or advice from more senior analysts, manager, or treasury leaders. Participates as part of a team in treasury and the broader area of finance.

Cash Management and Banking

Assists with recording and reporting of consolidated cash transactions. Accountable for the accuracy of recording and validating all data and transactions. Works directly with the ERP system, Treasury Workstation, and other cash management software and maintains the interaction with the general ledger system, as well as generating activity reports for other areas of the organization. Process the organization’s wire transfer and ACH transactions regularly.  Calculates and helps invest daily excess cash balances and maintains records to allocate centralized cash balances and related fees and earnings to the organization affiliates. Supports Finance to maintain appropriate accounting records for cash transactions and perform various month end duties within tight deadlines.  Assists with developing and maintaining bank relationships and bank services for all the organization entities. Analyzes banking services to identify possible improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency of the services. Establishes new bank accounts and integrates new entities into the organization's overall banking structure.

Merchant Processing

Assists in equipment ordering and deployment for new location set up, or replacement of credit card equipment.  Serves as a point of contact for any credit card processing related issues.  Tracks and monitors location list related to credit card processing.  Assists organization and locations in maintaining PCI Compliance.

Planning

Performs weekly cash forecasting and analysis of cash and short-term investment balances for use by the Corporate Treasurer and the organization executives. Develops reports, forecasts, and projections regularly.  Prepares analysis of consolidated cash flows, investments balances, and capital needs of the organization to identify borrowing and investing needs.  Maintains bank fee reports and performs analysis on bank fees.

Debt Management

Monitors, prepares, and processes debt, swap, intercompany loan, and all related fee payments on a daily, weekly, monthly, and as needed basis.  Assures payments are made timely to fulfill organization’s debt covenant requirements.  Suggests and implements changes to continuously improve processes with respect to the timely payment of such obligations.

Investment Management

Monitors, prepares and processes investment moves in organization’s liquidity pool, board designated, and captive insurance.  Gather and execute payment of investment manager fees, legal fees, and custodial fees. May assist with developing and maintaining working relationships with external Investment Managers to implement the organization's investing policies and meet the capital needs of organization.  Supports Finance to maintain appropriate accounting and supports the annual audit process relating to investments.

Deposit Operations

Performs functions related to setting up new locations for deposit services (such as ordering deposit tickets, stamps, deposit bags, initiating armor car services, or advising locations on appropriate deposit processes).  Processes change orders for depositing locations. May provide training for new locations or new staff on appropriate deposit processes and procedures. Manages the organization’s miscellaneous check deposit process to assure accurate posting to the general ledger system.  May make occasional deposit location visits to ensure locations are following IU Health cash control guidelines and procedures.  Performs special projects as assigned. Analyzes processes related to deposit operations to identify possible improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency of services.

Customer Service

Builds effective relationships with key internal and external customers. Develops relationships and works closely and regularly with other areas of the organization, treasury leadership and other Finance staff members.  Focus on providing data and necessary services to all internal and external customers.

Compliance and Reporting

Assists to ensure that all activities are conducted to ensure regulatory compliance with outside regulators and within company policy and practice. Assists with the preparation of a variety of management reports and executive summaries to be used in strategic business decisions. May assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining appropriate system related security and disaster recovery procedures.

  • Requires associate degree in finance, business, or business-related area.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prefer a minimum of 1-5 years of professional work experience preferably in treasury, banking or investments fields, accounting, or finance. 
  • Demonstrates an ability to understand the complexities of and a strong interest in working with cash management, banking, debt transactions, and investments.
  • Prefer some knowledge of external reporting requirements mandated by local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies; including Internal Revenue Service, Indiana Department of Revenue, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Requires strong attention to detail, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Requires strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, often with members of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Requires strong customer service skills.
  • Requires strong personal computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Requires ability to work collaboratively with customers to proactively identify and fill needs.
  • Requires ability to work productively as part of a team.
  • Requires the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
