Job Description

Overview

The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

Performs basic surgical techniques, assists with research, provides animal care, and keeps records, for the Animal Research Laboratory. Prepares surgery suites, assists in surgical procedures, administers anesthetics, and monitors animals before and after surgery.

 High School Diploma/GED required.
• Requires operational knowledge of mechanical and electronics equipment; including the ability to interpret various machine gauges and react accordingly.
• Requires knowledge of pre- and post-operative animal care.
• Requires knowledge of animal anesthesia techniques; machines; and ventilators.
• Requires knowledge of inventory practices and procedures; and maintaining records within a laboratory.
• Requires knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques relative to animal research.
• Requires 1-3 years of relevant experience in kennel and/or with laboratory animals.
