Job Description

Overview

The Director-Product Leader-Third Party Risk Arrangements is responsible for leading IU Health Third Party Risk Arrangements as part of IU Health’s value-based care (VBC) strategic pillar. In working across multiple areas of IU Health (e.g., VBC leadership, Managed Care, VBC Risk and Strategic Insights, Population Health, Finance, etc.), the leader will be the single point of contact for all matters related to risk-based contracting with third-party payers, defined as insurance carriers other than IU Health Plans. These risk-based contracts will include Medicare Advantage (MA), commercial group products, commercial ACA/Marketplace products, and Medicaid products. The leader understands and supports the vision of IU Health’s VBC strategic pillar. The leader will partner with IU Health Managed Care in the analysis, negotiation and contracting for all risk-based arrangements. The leader translates third party risk requirements into a recommended strategy and plan using their technical knowledge of the various arrangements. The leader partners with various functional leaders from throughout IU Health to implement and execute strategy. The leader is responsible for developing clear, consistent reporting tools and management processes that drive the clinical and economic performance of the various arrangements. This role moves between the deep technical program details and presentations, discussions and other interactions with a cross-functional executive audience.

Qualifications/Skills/Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of healthcare experience; Prefer prior commercial (fully-insured) product experience and some prior experience or familiarity with pharmacy benefits management (PBM) oversight or administration.
  • Prefer candidates who have experience with integrated (provider/payer) delivery systems and can effectively balance traditional health plans needs with those of the broader health system.
  • Must be equally strategic and operational and have a track record of managing and leading teams focused on improvement, insights, strategy, and execution.
  • Able to inspire teams, set a vision, drive outcomes and do so through influence (versus authority or direct reporting lines).
  • Able to balance multiple competing priorities and deliver.
  • Must have demonstrated experience of delivering results in a matrix environment.
