Program Director-System Environment of Care and Life Safety

Job Description

Overview

The Program Director-System Environment of Care and Life Safety oversees and develops a systemic program to promote best practices in the environment of care and life safety for all healthcare facilities, including hospitals and ambulatory care locations throughout IU Health. Through comprehensive onsite assessments, document/plan reviews, data analysis, advisory consultation and collaboration with facility and system leaders, team members, external agency experts and industry leaders, this individual will seek to identify priorities for improvement and spread of best practice standardization to mitigate environmental and life safety risks. Ensuring education/training, problem-solving and coaching for leaders and team members throughout the enterprise will be critical. This individual will be responsible to develop and nurture both internal and external industry relationships to ensure IU Health facilities perform at the highest levels possible and advocates appropriately with national experts on healthcare environmental matters.

 Bachelor's degree is required, with a degree in Engineering, Physical Science, or Architecture preferred.
• Current certification as a healthcare facilities manager (CHFM) required.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience required. Prefer enterprise or system healthcare experience.
• Certified life safety specialist ? healthcare or certification from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) preferred.
• Requires experience implementing large-scale initiatives in a complex, matrixed environment.
