Job Description

Overview

The Director Population Health Operations is part of the Indiana University Health's population health leadership team responsible for advancing our value-based care contracts.  The Director will lead the population health managers as they interact with the IUH physician enterprise.  The leader will develop tactics and strategies to educate and motivate the physician enterprise to deliver on the three key value-based care levers:  quality, HCC, and utilization.  The leader will work across the IUH organization, with key partners in a number of areas, System Health Solutions executive team, Population Health Physician Leader, VBC operations, Health Plans, and the chief physician executives (CPE).   The Director plans, directs, and evaluates all aspects of the operations for population health initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Team and system colleagues.  

Population Health is part of the System Health Solutions (SHS) business unit which delivered $1.2B in net revenue in 2020. SHS, formed in 2015, brings together many diverse service lines critical to meeting the needs of patients and clients in the complex and constantly evolving world of healthcare. In 2019, Community & Population Health and IU Health plans were brought into SHS to further align the organization to execute on key strategies.

This position reports to Chief Medical Officer of System Health Solutions and senior vice president of VBC and Community Health and will lead a team of 7 team members.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required. Masters preferred (MBA, MHA or related field).
  • 7+ years of healthcare experience with specific experience in manager/supervisory roles, risk adjustment operations, clinical case management or population health experience desired.
  • Strong knowledge of business applications, project management, and financial management.
  • Familiarity with clinical operations and healthcare information management.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building skills, critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects involving multiple customers, interest and goals.
  • Knowledge of industry issues, demonstrated experience and results such as 2nd Curve (transition from volume based to value-based economics), and insurance/population risk models, evolving workforce trends, evolving care delivery models and emerging roles
