Job Description


Indiana University Health Physicians is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Orthopedic Spine team. The RN is an integral part of the orthopedic team working alongside surgeons and advanced practice providers to ensure high quality of care to patients presenting with a variety of illnesses and injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system. As a Spine Orthopedic Registered Nurse, you will have the opportunity to join a team of highly skilled medical experts with a mission to deliver preeminent medical care and service to our patients. Monday - Friday day shift, no weekends, no holidays.

  • Must be able to function in a fast paced environment, demonstrating the ability to multitask and support various providers
  • Work collaboratively with staff to ensure the environment is optimal for patient care
  • Preparation of clinical charts
  • Manage and triage messages
  • Assist with preparation of prescriptions
  • Perform a variety of office based procedures including suture removal, bracing, and wound care
  • Educate patients and families on conditions and specifics of treatment plan
  • Initiate surgery scheduling and prior authorizations
  • Traveling may be required between clinic locations

The Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. This position may perform duties associated with symptom-management, direct in-clinic patient care, and/or telehealth patient care and quality improvement activities. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
