Overview
The Director, Community Health, Outreach and Engagement will be responsible for developing and successfully implementing an aligned, comprehensive community engagement strategy, work plan, and all key outreach and engagement initiatives/activities on behalf of the entire Community Health division and the IU Health system (all hospitals & all regions) that will leverage following priorities in the communities we serve:
The leader will also align the community engagement strategy across the system to support identified social determinants of health concerns and community benefit activities in response to the community health needs assessment. The leader will represent the Community Health division & IU Health to the community at large with respect to community health outreach and engagement activities.
In addition to developing and implementing a successful community engagement strategy, the leader will build an infrastructure with aligned key actions/plans and metrics to achieve success. The leader will be responsible for developing and expanding relevant outreach opportunities, growing the community impact and reach of these engagements, and analyzing data and metrics to evaluate, measure and make recommendations for improvement and community impact. The leader will be responsible for successfully developing, monitoring, growing and maintaining relevant community-based relationships & partnerships (i.e. faith based, non-profit, grass roots, community coalitions/alliances, etc) that not only align with the priority areas, but simultaneously build credibility and trust of IUH among community stakeholders in effort to advance the impact on the patients, communities served and the state of Indiana. The leader must be able to establish credibility and build relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders in an authentic way that includes the voice of the community.
Additional key areas of focus:
The leader will report to the VP, Community Health Operations and will have project management support to lead the work. The leader will also work alongside other Community Health department directors, health equity leaders, operational partners, various IU Health department leaders, and external stakeholders in a collaborative format to engage and outreach to the community. The leader will be able to effectively lead strategy and operational excellence with influence across the IU Health system and greater community to ensure alignment and community impact. Other related duties will be assigned as needed.
