Overview
The Director, Community Health for Behavioral Health, Substance Use Disorder and Tobacco/Nicotine Cessation will be responsible for developing and successfully implementing the strategy, operational work plan, and key activities of these two community health priorities across the IU Health system (all hospital entities/regions) as well as to the larger community and state of Indiana. This includes devising a successful strategy, as well as building an infrastructure with aligned key actions/plans and metrics to achieve success. The leader will be responsible for developing and expanding relevant health care services, growing utilization of the services, and analyzing service operational data and metrics to make recommendations for improvement and advancement. The leader will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining relevant internal and community partnerships that align with the priority areas to advance impact on the patients and communities served.
Behavioral health programs include, but are not limited to, integrated behavioral health, virtual behavioral health ED consults, and the zero-suicide program. Substance use disorder programs include, but are not limited to, the IUH addiction treatment recovery centers and the IUH centralized tobacco treatment program. The leader will play a key leadership role on both the tobacco steering committee and the behavioral health and SUD steering committee which guides the work of these priorities in an aligned format across the system.
The leader will report to the VP, Community Health Operations and will have project management support to lead the work. The leader will also work alongside other Community Health department directors, health equity leaders, operational partners, various IU Health department leaders, and external stakeholders in a collaborative format to accomplish the work and achieve division goals. The leader will be able to effectively lead strategy and operational excellence with influence across the IU Health system and greater community to drive change, alignment, and system and community impact. Other related duties will be assigned as needed.
