Job Description

Overview

Improves trauma care within Indiana through professional outreach education and injury prevention that focus on the application of evidence-based pediatric trauma care and injury  prevention principles  to meet the needs of the Trauma Center. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and outside hospitals and agencies to implement evidence-based pediatric trauma interventions to improve the care of injured pediatric patients for initial stabilization both in the community and in hospital emergency departments.   Provides leadership for pediatric trauma outreach and injury prevention.  Accountable for coordinating, implementing, and maintaining injury prevention programs.   Ensures compliance requirements made by the American College of Surgeons "Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient" as related to Injury Prevention and Professional Outreach for Pediatric Trauma Care. Oversees pediatric trauma outreach with pre-hospital and outside hospitals. Oversees all the injury prevention programs including the screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT) program. 

  • Bachelor's Degree required for RN's or equivalent years of experience in education or related field experience for paramedics.
  • Registered Nurse License or Paramedic License (valid for State of Indiana) required.
  • ATS Injury Prevention course required within 1 year of hire.          
  • Child passenger safety technician/instructor preferred. Required within one year.  
  • If RN, required two to five years experience with trauma patients either pre-hospital or hospital settings.        
  • If Paramedic, requires five years experience with trauma patients either pre-hospital or hospital settings.
