Staff Tax Analyst - Hybrid

Job Description

Overview

This role supports the operation of the Tax Department as it relates to tax compliance, planning, and research.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepares federal, state, and local tax returns for Indiana's largest healthcare system consisting of both taxable and tax-exempt organizations.
  • Examines accounts and records and computes taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.
  • Learns from other members of the tax team regarding the effects of business activities on taxes.
  • Interacts with other functions and regions within the IU Health system, as it pertains to the preparation of tax returns and other tax related compliance initiatives.
  • Provides ongoing analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of the area.
  • Supports the legal entity reduction efforts driven by the Tax Department.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • BA or BS in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 0-3 years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience with tax compliance for tax-exempt entities and healthcare systems would be beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated and self-driven with continuous process improvement goal.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to work with other functional groups.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Ability to be agile and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Our system finance team, including the tax department, values and encourages professional development, including the CPA designation and involvement in professional organizations.

This position is mostly remote; however at least one day per week is dedicated to being in the office to connect as a team and collaborate.  Depending on the business needs, the amount of in-office time could be more some weeks.
