Job Description
Overview
Transcribes medical dictation from physicians, residents, and other health care professionals to produce accurate and complete medical reports.
• Requires extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires ability to type 65 wpm.
• Requires superior attention to detail.
• Requires the ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
• Requires successful completion of the apprentice program and/or prior experience as a medical transcriptionist.
• Requires the ability to operate word processing and transcription equipment.
• Requires knowledge of the policies and procedures relating to department operations and the handling of medical records and confidential patient information.

Qualifications for the Medical Transcriptionist - FT - Days Role
Overview
Transcribes medical dictation from physicians, residents, and other health care professionals to produce accurate and complete medical reports.
- Requires 1-3 years in a hospital setting transcribing history and physicals; discharge summaries and operative notes of all specialties.
- Requires extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Requires ability to type 65 wpm.
- Requires superior attention to detail.
- Requires the ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
- Requires successful completion of the apprentice program and/or prior experience as a medical transcriptionist.
- Requires the ability to operate word processing and transcription equipment.
- Requires knowledge of the policies and procedures relating to department operations and the handling of medical records and confidential patient information.
