Position Summary

This position is to support any Food Services urgent temporary staffing in support of IU Health COVID-19 operations.

This position exists to receive food orders from patients via telephone calls or bedside, process food orders, to serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner. Instructs patients on meal ordering system and assists patients in placing meal orders. Assesses the patient's capabilities to utilize the meal order system. Serves as a public relations contact for the organization, responding to delicate and sensitive calls, which reflect on the organization's customer service.

Requirements

  • Requires outstanding verbal and phone skills.
  • Requires experience in a customer service function; with a minimum of one- year experience working with the public.
  • Requires excellent customer service skills; including anticipation; mediation and resolution of customer issues.
  • Requires desire and ability to learn basic diet therapy.
  • Requires ability to effectively and calmly interact with a widely diverse population of patients in stressful situations.
  • Requires basic math skills.
  • Requires ability to read and write English.
  • Requires ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Requires the ability to be friendly; upbeat; and polite at all times under stress.
  • Requires basic computer skills and ability to learn the computerized food ordering system.
  • Requires critical thinking skills.
  • Requires sensitivity to discern or predict problems or difficulties along with proven problem-solving skills.
  • Requires outstanding verbal communication skills and ability to empathize with patient concerns.
  • Requires ability to present a positive first impression; including grooming; verbal skills; body language etc.
  • Requires flexibility and adaptability to all situations with patient satisfaction and great experience the ultimate goal.
