Indiana University Health has exciting nursing opportunities in our Emergency Department at IU Health Bloomington. Full-time, part-time, and supplemental positions with days, nights, rotating, and weekend options available.

Emergency Department

Our Emergency Department at IU Health Bloomington offers a 24 hour provision of patient care services to populations ranging from infant to elderly. With a RN to patient ratio of 1:4, it is focused on addressing the most urgent and relevant clinical needs of patients during their ER visit. Our IU Health Bloomington ER is a verified level III Trauma Center and averages 50,000 patients' visits annually. It is also a regional referral center for stroke, cardiac and sexual assault patient care. The ER Clinician works with a strong team of providers including IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians Emergency Medicine, physician assistants as well as nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacists, SANE and mental health specialists. The ER nurses must obtain ACLS, PALS and TNCC certifications with additional opportunities to participate in specialty training in areas such as Emergency Nurse Pediatrics, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training.

Our Nurse Residency Program offers a dynamic experience that will positively impact your ability to provide quality, compassionate care to patients as you transition from student nurse to professional nurse. With support from Nursing leadership, peer education, and mentoring throughout your first year orientation and beyond, you'll develop clinical skills, enhance your professional development & individual strengths as you uncover your passion as a direct care nurse.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • An Associate of Nursing (ASN) degree from an ACEN or CCNE nursing program.
    • New ASN RNs hired after January 1, 2013 will be required to complete their BSN within five years from date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
    • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) from a nursing program accredited through the ACEN or CCNE.
