Critical Care

16 beds.

RN-to-patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2.

Nurses who work in critical care are required to be ACLS certified. CCRN certification encouraged. Nurses on the Critical Care unit strive to provide the highest quality care for patients of all ages facing life threatening conditions from stroke, to severe respiratory insufficiency, overwhelming infection, and trauma. Critical Care is dedicated to creating an atmosphere in which dignity, realism, and respect is maintained for patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team. Our interdisciplinary team includes physicians, bedside nurses, clinical nurse educators, clinical nurse specialists, clinical pharmacist, respiratory therapist, social worker, case manager, dietitian and chaplains. Nurses have an opportunity to become trained in continuous renal replacement therapy. Each year, two critical care nurses are awarded the Nobel and Louise King Critical Care Service Award for Outstanding Professionalism. The unit has patient lift equipment which allows one nurse to transfer a patient in bed and out of bed with minimal body exertion. Our critical care team has been deemed a mentor hospital for the prevention of ventilator acquired pneumonia, surgery or illness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • An Associate of Nursing (ASN) degree from an ACEN or CCNE nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
    • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) from a nursing program accredited through the ACEN or CCNE.
