Description

The NICU Nest is a family support program that will help support anyone who has or may soon have a baby in a newborn intensive care unit or who is wanting to help a family in this situation. The NICU Nest Family Support Coordinator will provide care, support, education, and community resource information for families whose babies are hospitalized in the NICU, as well as to expectant mothers experiencing a high-risk pregnancy/prenatal diagnosis. Assist in preparing families for a NICU experience. Provide education and respite opportunities for families. Assist with health care financing. Provide tours and/or resource referrals to patients in the Methodist NICU as requested. Create a positive environment for babies, parents, family members, and staff.

*Bi-Lingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 3 years experience in medical, educational, and/or social services setting.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health care systems, health care financing and community resources available to children and families.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills in oral and written communication.
  • Capable of relating to diverse cultural and demographic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently in a changing and stressful environment.
  • Understanding the objectives of family-centered care.
  • Experience working with families
